Heath & Safety
Trust us, planning a wedding during a pandemic can be tricky. You’re faced with a lot of tough choices, one of which is how to navigate the inviting of guests who may or may not be vaccinated for COVID-19.
We’ve stressed about this for months now, and have come to the decision that, in order to ensure our wedding is as safe as possible, all guests must be fully vaccinated.
We understand that this may mean that we can’t celebrate our big day with some people we hold dearest. We’re deeply saddened by that. But we just do not feel comfortable taking the risk, and sincerely hope that you understand this decision; it was not one made without consideration.
With love, Sue & David
Requirements & Precautions
Sadly, COVID-19 is surging again in Minnesota. Out of respect for our 80-something parents and those in attendance with health conditions, we will be doing all within our power to make our wedding gathering a COVID-free zone, and we respectfully request your help to support our efforts.
We welcome all who are COVID-19 vaccinated and preferably boosted as well.
- On the day of the gathering, if you should feel unwell, even if you’d previously RSVP’d that you will be attending, please stay home. We understand, appreciate, but insist that you must stay home.
- Out of respect for our families and guests, the bride and groom will be COVID-tested the morning of the ceremony.
- We respectfully ask that you also complete your own COVID-19 home test, within 72 hours before the celebration. And of course, if you should test positive, we are sorry that we will not be seeing you for our special day.
Thank you in advance for doing all possible to protect yourselves, our families, and our friends as we gather to celebrate.
Resources
Over-the-counter at-home tests give rapid results, and you can take them anywhere, regardless of your vaccination status or whether or not you have symptoms. Visit CDC.gov to learn when to test yourself, how to use an over-the-counter test, and what your test results mean.
Get free at-home COVID-19 tests: Go to COVID.gov to request eight free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests per household delivered by the USPS. You can make this request up to three times if you had not already requested the tests when they were offered in January and March.
Seniors: Pickup free COVID-19 tests from your local pharmacy. Medicare now covers up to eight over-the-counter COVID-19 tests each calendar month, at no cost to you. This coverage continues until the COVID-19 public health emergency ends. Visit Medicare.gov to learn more.
Free Test Kits from the State of Minnesota: Four free test kits per household. Available while supplies last. Visit https://mn.gov/covid19/get-tested/at-home/index.jsp to learn more and how to order.
COVID-19 Community Testing Sites: Minnesota provides low-barrier, no-cost COVID-19 rapid and saliva testing across Minnesota. Appointments are available and walk-ins are accepted. Visit https://mn.gov/covid19/get-tested/testing-locations/community-testing.jsp to learn more and find a location. I’ve found that there is generally no wait at the Bloomington location.
